Last minute bride: hair, make up and colours

One thing that people rarely cut back on is their hair and beauty desires.

And there’s plenty of salons, spas and stylists in this country to meet your every demand.

And let’s face it, whether it’s your wedding or mine – we all want to look picture perfect for that big day.
But even more so if you’re the bride, like me, in just over three months.

So how do I create a contoured face like Kim Kardashian but with the fresh-facedness of Scarlett Johansson?
It’s time to call in the experts.

Aloha to Sam Justice Wheeler who runs a vintage beauty and pamper business across Yorkshire.

Sam has a luxurious Hawaiian themed salon on the thriving Ecclesall Road in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
She has worked on cruise ships, in 5 star resorts and on set for music videos. So she knows her stuff.
I went along to meet Sam for a make up and skincare trial.
She offers a tropical range of skincare treatments from microdermabrasion to a Mango Melt which includes a full body exfoliation and coconut rub.

I’ve decided to nab her expertise and bring her to Wakefield, West Yorkshire for my wedding day at Unity Works and, the day before, as we’re having a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at York House Hotel.

Sam has done mood boards for my different looks from an oriental contoured look to a more fresh-faced affair for my big day.

And to compliment the make-up, we all need great hair stylists on board.
Thankfully, my aunty runs Brownz hair salon in Burton-On-Trent and fortunately they too do hairdressing for weddings.

So they’re working with Sam from Aloha Vintage Beauty to give me a burlesque slick curled hair look for the oriental ceremony and then the bouncy curls of Shakira for the wedding day and then an up-do so I can dance the night away.

And then there’s spray tanning, manicures, eyebrow threading and facials to think about…

Oh and colours! What colours suit you? Go see a local style consultant. I visited Rachel Salway, who runs Roseannah Style and also offers style parties. She gave me a ‘colour consultation’ and I can highly recommend that you have one at some point so you know which jewellery and clothes to choose.
It’s all warm colours and gold for me.

Anything else I’ve forgotten? If you’re married, how did you prepare?
