It’s easy to get stuck in a rut when it comes to presents. Sometimes I think someone likes something but then I realise it’s just because I’ve always bought them that.
*Sorry for all the bath stuff, socks and unhealthy treats.*
So I wanted to create a comprehensive Mother’s Day (and beyond) gift-list to help you out when choosing or thinking about what you’d like to receive, make or purchase. I’ve broken it down depending on your budget and desires.
Bargain-list If you’re counting the pennies, fear not there are cheap options too
- Leslie at Messy Blog UK says: “Something made by my children’s hands, especially for me, says way more than any store bought gift. I’m a big fan of gifts with thought and effort and something home-made epitomises that, whatever the occasion.”
- Pound World and Pound Land have a range of Mother’s Day Gifts.
- You can either make cards or buy a huge one for pennies at Card Factory.
- Charity Shops: Lots of charity shops sell new and nearly new products. So have a browse and support a good cause.
- Or make your Mum (or me) some delicious healthy food…

Unique-list A selection of independent businesses I’ve come across
- Laura at www.thedrmproject.co.uk says: “Our SuperMum tops are ideal they’re only £23.50 and £10 of that goes to charity (that’s the whole profit).”
- My friend Ashleigh sells hand-made gifts, from fabric coasters to cushions and, bunting on her Etsy shop.
- Sal at Hello Little Lovely makes these gorgeous pendants…
- Little Lovelies also has some lovely gifts on offer.
- Check out Ribbon of Hearts too for some beautiful bespoke wooden hearts.
- Or make my Mama happy and buy some of her beautiful art-work and cards.
My gift-list #ad Here are some of the fantastic businesses I’m working with
- Buy an online fitness membership so you or your mum can dance, move and get fit in their own home. To find out more, click here.
- Give your house a spring clean from Time For You cleaning.
- Purchase reasonably priced cosmetics, clothes, handbags and homeware from Avon.
- Skinny Tea and Skinny Coffee to give you a caffeine and health kick!
- Book a private dining experience by my MasterChef husband in your own home.
Experiences Most of us don’t want more stuff just memories
- Pottery Painting: A great way to make a memorable gift as well as spending quality time together. We enjoyed our visit to Crafty Owls.
- Lisa at Mummy Gummie says: An afternoon tea– who doesn’t love going for an afternoon tea treat, devouring dainty sandwiches, delicious cakes and yummy scones with lashings of cream and jam, all washed down with unlimited tea served in pretty cups! It’s inky made better with the company of your mummy! Going for afternoon tea is very popular these days and hence there are an abundance of hotels/cafes/restaurants that offer this. In Bristol one of my favourite places to go is a lovely cafe on Gloucester rd called Cox and Baloney.
- Why don’t you treat your Mum to a photoshoot?

- Leslie at Messy Blog UK says: “There are some things I don’t mind being woken up for. One of those things is breakfast in bed.
“My choice of breakfast would have to be either a full English fry-up served with tea and orange juice, a bacon butty, a fried egg sandwich or fried/poached egg on toast. - Pamper at home… Laura at the Breastest News says: “The hubby and I are right into lovely scents at the moment and I’ve been on the look out for something relaxing to have in our bedroom. What more could I ask for then than this luxury scented spa relax candle from The White Company. I bet it smells amazing and I’m sure a friend recently said it actually does smell like a spa. Fab.”
- Blogger Sarah at Boo Roo and Tigger too said: “Whilst family life can usually provide more than enough fun and laughter for great content on our blogs, sometimes we may need a helping hand. Whether they are suffering from writers’ block, punishing deadlines or just because then try an experience day for them. From a pamper day at a spa, a chocolate workshop or an afternoon tea treat – they will come back feeling refreshed and hoping full of new content ideas too.” And if you want to buy some stylish physical gifts, here’s some more options from the blogger.
- Vouchers: I love receiving vouchers especially ones such as Red Letter Days so I can choose a date and an experience and it gives me something to look forward to. I enjoyed taking part in their twitter party about what Mums really want for Mother’s Day.
- Makeovers: Rather than buy make-up I know I’d much prefer a make-over (and then to buy products that suit me). I had so much fun at the Charlotte Tilbury counter.

Hamper ideas Who doesn’t love a good hamper?
Home made hamper:
- You can buy baskets and items to fill hampers from The Works.
- Or buy a basket from a £1 store and have fun filling it with lots of gifts from a variety of places. Food always goes down well in our house.
Posh hamper:
- Lisa at Mummy Gummie says: “Chocolate – I’m a big fan of chocolate (who isn’t?!), so any excuse to add this to a gift list. As a special treat Hotel Chocolat is my favourite and they do a lovely range of gifts for Mother’s Day including a selection box.”
