I met mums suffering, like I did, with mental health problems…
In this film, mums share their experiences of dealing with their varying mental health issues whilst caring for their babies.
Being a parent can be hard enough without the added stress of being a mum dealing with mental health problems.
Not only does Post-natal Depression and Psychosis affect the mum, but the whole family too.
Mental Health Awareness Week this year profiles the impact mental heath can have on ‘relationships’.
Film-maker and mum-of-two Sophie Mei Lan documents her own journey, in this powerful film about mums and mental health.

Thank you so much for such an honest vlog. I am so sorry that you have suffered with this terrible disease, but I am so pleased that you have finally received the help you so badly needed. Sadly, more provisions do need to be put in place. I wish you all the best with your recovery. A powerful film. X #PoCoLo
Thanks so much for your kind words. It’s very true I’m lucky my partner acted as my carer as I wouldn’t be here without him. Fingers crossed it does some good xxx
I suffer from depression and anxiety as well. I have written about it on my blog. It is very hard dealing with mental issues and being a mom. It makes you feel like a bad mom, which only makes you feel worse. I totally feel you. Glad you are getting help.

Sophie, this film so important for the general awareness of Mental Health in our society. We, as a clinic, help mothers and babies who struggle and help them have as many opportunities as any others. Glad you are getting help and you are overcoming this desease while spreading the word. See our website if you’d like to know more, we have a workshop coming up for carers and parents of children with mental illnesses in London. Help spread the word on this, it would be greatly appreciated and hopefully we can help anyone to overcome this horrible desease.
