The face behind viral YouTube channel Rate My Takeaway has announced the dramatic birth of his daughter with wife Sophie Mei Lan Malin.

Danny Mei Lan Malin, 43, who runs the UK’s most popular food review channel met Personal Trainer and Journalist Sophie last year while working.

The pair who described one another as “soul mates,” didn’t want to waste any time and they spent every day together since meeting.

Danny popped the question and the pair have been inseparable ever since.

Sophie who runs Mama Mei mental health, parenting and fitness YouTube channel alongside her work as a journalist, belly dancer and personal trainer, joined forces with Danny to start their own channel and page Mr and Mrs Yorkshire.

Danny from Barnsley who lives with his Sheffield born wife in Wakefield, took to social media to share his joy.

“Welcome to the world my little princess Athena. Born 24/09/23 at 3pm weighing 5lb 13oz.

“Plan was to have a home birth and by eck did that happen I was out filming for rate my takeaway whilst Sophie and George was at home. I was just about to start a review when Sophie phoned to say her waters had gone it was all hands on deck George (our son) started to fill the pool and I called our parents.

“Then bang 10 mins later Athena was here Sophie was amazing after Athena decided to just fly out unfortunately her cord snapped but to the rescue came George I was on face time to Sophie and George was on the phone to 999 he was then instructed to get a shoe lace and tie it onto Athena’s cord. An 11 year old boy doing what he did I am so proud he will have such a strong bond with his sister.

“Sophie kept calm under pressure and was absolutely amazing i managed to get back before the ambulance arrived and with tears rolling down my face welcomed our little princess into the world I love my family so much and thank you to the 999 dispatcher ambulance crew nursing staff parents rate my takeaway crew for getting me home safe and Sophie for being Wonder Woman xxx.”

Danny and former Britains Got Talent finalist belly dancer Sophie have four children living at home so Athena will be the fifth child in their household.

Doting mum Sophie, who is currently recovering with Athena in hospital, posted:

“Athena: The warrior princess – a lifetime of waiting for you but wow when you decided to join us you made an entrance.

“Well we got a home birth so to speak 😂 Our Minnie warrior came within 10 minutes. An hour in total including contractions and I literally breathed her out on FaceTime to Danny who was out filming Rate My Takeaway when it happened so he was racing home. Meet our Athena Minnie Chang’e Danaë Mei Lan Malin weighing 5lb 13oz. Born on 24/09/23. Our miracle cherub uniting all our perfectly imperfect wonderful babies and family who we would not be here today without.

“We are eternally blessed. Still in hospital as had to get blue lighted in considering the speed, the fact it was just me and George at home, cord snapping and Athena dropping out my knickers and onto the floor.”
